Allow Us To Reintroduce Ourselves

Lost in Translation is officially back with a vengeance.  We apologize for having pulled quite the hiatus, but, as an official imprint of ver-bat-im publications, we are back and better than ever.

Borrow an airhorn, get your spray-cans ready, and prepare to get loud- we need YOU to help us make this return worth remembering.

That being said, tune in and keep in touch for the latest news, trends, and flash points from the world of all things independent-music, art, poetry, and more.

What are you waiting for?

Follow us now.

Got Love?

If you do, follow us here and reblog with “I do!”

[Got Love? is the International Youth Organization of Newark, New Jersey’s online campaign to raise awareness and social action to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.  It’s completely free- all you’ve gotta do is send a click and a prayer (and hopefully a few more friends over to catch onto the movement). lovelovelove.]

I don’t want to achieve immortality through my work… I want to achieve it through not dying.
Woody Allen

Artist: US3 featuring Brook Yung

Track Title: “Love of My Life”

Why You Should Check It Out: Brook Yung, a young force to be reckoned with within the New York City spoken word scene, is officially set to starting making an equally impressive mark on hip-hop as well.  Just off a European tour and putting the finishing touches on his debut album, Brook Yung is not to be missed.  If nothing else, check out this video to avoid being bombarded with “I-told-you-so’s” before you even had time to blink.  His blog, “Mirrors In My Eyes,” is also definitely buzzworthy, and you can check it out here.

Presidential Poetry Slam <333

While President Barack Obama might not be the instant-fix Americans hoped for in terms of major national policy, this article from the Washington Post is undeniable proof that change is, indeed, here.  Here’s hoping that the arts are just the first signs of even greater progress.

GEN79.com - Independent Music’s Last Hope?!?

So, what do you get when you combine the passion of underground music fans (can you still remember your first rock show?) with the gutsy creative endeavors of some of the most progressive artists in contemporary music and the strategic planning of some of the best music publicists in the business

GEN79.com. Duh.

If you’ve never heard of GEN79, then you’ve either been living inside a rabbit hole, chilling in the Internal Space Station, or boycotting awesome.  Either way, we don’t judge.

The fact, however, still remains that GEN79, the ultimate street-team marketing website for the new era, is a force to be reckoned with.  Boasting an incredible bill of artists, both past (i.e. Boys Night Out and Lostprophets) and present (Third Eye Blind, Valencia, and Cage the Elephant) from all possible genres of music, GEN79 knows that the true secret to promotion is simple: fantastic talent and determined fans.  With free membership, amazing prizes for participation, an awesome blog, countless links to free music, merch, and innovative promotions, and more, GEN79 more than lives up to its self-professed motto of “music with a mission, successfully bridging the unfortunate gap between artists and music fans created in recent years.

If you guys (and girls) don’t come away from this magazine with any other information, you’ve got to remember to check out www.GEN79.com today.  It’s one of (if not the) only tools in today’s music industry actively aimed at giving back, and it’s based completely on your efforts.  What better way to get involved with your favorite music than to promote your favorite bands and artists in your communities and in your own ways?  Joining GEN79 is literally the chance of a lifetime, so I recommend that you go there RIGHT NOW before you miss the chance to next big thing they’ve got ready for you.
